Soccer Cubs Canceled for 9/7

We will reschedule this session for October 19th. The weather forecast is calling for high winds and cool temperatures, which when combined with the rain that is expected tonight will make for a miserable early morning at the fields.

Wildcat games will still be played as scheduled.

Week 1 - August 24th 8:00am

Tomorrow is the big day—our very first Soccer Cubs session! We’re excited to welcome your little ones to the field bright and early.

Here’s what you need to know for tomorrow:

  • Session Start Time: 8:00 AM
  • Arrival Time: Please arrive a bit earlier to pick up your child’s jersey and socks before practice starts.
  • Location: Field 4 at Parkview Fields (Map)

What to Bring:

  • Shin Guards: Safety first! Make sure your child is wearing shin guards.
  • Soccer Ball: If you have a size 3 ball, please bring it along. Don’t worry if you don’t have one—we’ll have plenty available.
  • Water Bottle: We will take breaks for water throughout the session.

What to Expect:

  • Each week will feature our six teams rotating through several skill stations coached by members of the Mayfield Heights Boys & Girls Varsity Soccer Teams.
  • These skills will include the foundations of organized soccer: dribbling, passing, trapping and shooting.
  • We'll follow this up with scrimmages between the teams using small goals and no goalies.

We’re looking forward to a fun-filled morning as we kick off this exciting new program. See you and your Soccer Cubs tomorrow!

2024 Fall "Soccer Cubs"

BOYS AND GIRLS Entering Pre-K or Kindergarten

Starting this fall the MSC is expanding our offering for the youngest players as we officially welcome pre-school aged children to the club with a specially tailored program.

For years we've allowed pre-school aged kids to join our league and play with their slightly older peers, but this was never a perfect solution. Additionally, lumping the kindergarten aged kids (many of whom are playing a sport for the first time) in with the first graders was also less than ideal. And finally while the concept of joining your team for practice each week in advance of your teams game is a great skill to develop, trying to keep a dozen kindergarteners focused for an hour on a weeknight is more than a challenge.

To address all of these concerns, and continue to promote an appreciation for the sport by providing progressively higher levels of competition within a safe, supportive, teaching environment, we're launching our Soccer Cubs Program.

Objective

To instill in our youngest players a sense of enthusiasm, self-confidence, good sportsmanship, and teamwork by emphasizing the game’s basic fundamentals.

What

The Soccer Cub program will provide an introduction into competitive soccer for our youngest players. Children will be placed onto a team with a club provided coach complete with a jersey and team name. Each week on Saturday there will be a skills session/practice followed by a short scrimmage on a smaller field using pug (small pop-up) goals without goalies.

When

The season will start on August 24th and continue for 8 weeks ending on 10/12. All players will participate in a single session that begins at 8:00.

Where

Practices and Games will be played on Field 4 at Parkview Fields located by Progressive Campus on Rt. 91

Cost

$60 - Regular Registration (through 8/9)
