Roster Policies and Changes
Roster Policies and Procedures - New for fall 2025
The Wildcat League is all about giving players a chance to compete and grow with others in our community. Unlike travel or club soccer, our teams start fresh each season and are built to be balanced by age, grade, and experience. We spend an enormous amount of time and effort—using a custom algorithm and hundreds of simulations—to make sure every team is as fair as possible while still honoring pairing and practice day requests for every player.
Head coaches are able to submit a list of up to 5 players they'd like placed onto their team, which are honored as long as doing so does not create an imbalance in the remaining teams. These players are placed onto a team while still respecting pairing requests and practice day requirements. This way head coaches are able to keep together a small core of players while building a new team each season. It is also an incentive to taking on the responsibility of coaching a team.
Because of the complexity and the need for balance, we simply cannot honor every roster change request. Every change requires a matching swap and, in many cases, it just isn’t possible. In the past adjusting rosters for late change requests ended up taking more time than building the rosters in the first place.
New for This Fall: All roster change requests must be made in person at the Kickoff event, immediately after rosters are announced. We’ll continue to work and fix any clear mistakes (like a player assigned to a team that practices on the day they asked off), but requests based on either incorrect or incomplete registration information or simply for preference made after the event will not be granted.
Help us keep things running smoothly: check your registration info, and bring any questions or change requests to the Kickoff. Thanks for understanding and supporting our goal of a fair league for all!
